Hunter's Investment Philosophy   Hunter's Investment Philosophy

A lot of people ask "Hunter, how do you make money in both down and up markets"? I tell them, I don’t fight the market. I do not ignore the market sentiment, the trends or all the data right in front of our face!

In InvestmentHunter I only pick stocks that I like for the foreseeable future, but the buy and hold strategy just doesn’t work anymore. Especially, in this market!  I protect capital with stop/losses and invest mainly in sectors that are currently in favor.  I focus on companies in this newsletter that are identified as companies with significant appreciation potential.  I do this by going through the following process:

    • Research companies in hot industries or sectors
    • Ensure the company is a current leader in their sector
    • I look for companies that have a special product niche
    • Look very closely at the management of the company
    • Thoroughly examine the company’s financials
      • PEG
      • Debt
      • R&D
      • Return on Equity
      • Cash Flow
      • Margins
      • Insider buys/sales
    • Key Announcements
    • Fund Holdings

If the company I research "passes the muster" then I let you know when I make it part of the portfolio.  I hold investment stocks typically 6-18 months long and usually concentrate on about a dozen stocks.  By doing this I really stay on top of them and don't water down my returns by “over diversifying“ like so many fund managers.

In the TradeHunter portfolio, I let technical analysis be my guide, but I also use fundamental analysis to keep risk to a minimum.  I have used my many years of experience to turn charting, trading techniques, and swing trading and momentum trading into trading decisions depending on the type of market. I go long or short in this portfolio and always use the premise of doubling down on these stocks after dips if the stock is still fundamentally strong.  As simple as that sounds, I am always surprised to see how many people do not follow this strategy.  I have used this strategy for many years and typically have 80% or more profitable trades.

Regardless of which portfolio you are in, my goal is to help readers easily “outperform the market".  While the ultimate decision on any trades or investments is yours to make, I want you to use this site to create wealth for yourself and your family.
